NI SCXI-1180 Data Acquisition Module
Overview
SCXI-1180 is a multifunctional data acquisition module, mainly used to convert analog signals into digital signals for processing and analysis by computers or other digital devices. It is a member of the SCXI (Signal Conditioning eXtension for Instrumentation) series of modules and can form a complete data acquisition system together with other SCXI modules.
Main characteristics
Analog input channels: Usually, it has multiple analog input channels and can simultaneously collect multiple analog signals. This enables it to be used to monitor multiple physical quantities, such as temperature, pressure, voltage, current, etc.
High resolution: It has a relatively high resolution and can precisely convert analog signals into digital signals. For instance, it may have a resolution of 16 bits or higher, which means it can distinguish very small changes in analog signals, thereby providing more accurate data acquisition results.
Wide input range: Supports a wide range of analog input signals and can adapt to analog signals of different amplitudes. For instance, it may be capable of accepting input signals ranging from a few millivolts to tens of volts, meeting the signal acquisition requirements in various practical applications.
Sampling rate: It has a relatively high sampling rate and can quickly sample analog signals. High sampling rates are crucial for capturing rapidly changing signals, such as audio signals or physical quantity changes in high-speed dynamic processes.
Signal conditioning function: It integrates some signal conditioning functions, such as filtering and amplification. The filtering function can remove the noise in the signal and improve the signal quality. The amplification function can amplify weak signals to an appropriate level to facilitate better digital conversion.
Isolation feature: By using isolation technology, the input signal is isolated from other parts of the acquisition system. This helps prevent electrical interference, protect the system from issues such as high voltage and grounding loops, and enhance the stability and reliability of the system.
Interface and Communication
Bus interface: It connects to a computer or other controllers through a specific bus. Common interfaces include PCI, PXI, USB, etc. Different interface types are suitable for different application scenarios and device architectures, facilitating users to make choices based on their actual needs.
Communication protocol: Use the corresponding communication protocol to transmit data and interact with commands with the host.
