ABB Accuray measurement System

ABB Accuray measurement System

Quality control systems, measurement systems (trade name AccuRay) for paper manufacturers. AccuRay automation systems control manufacturing processes in the pulp and paper, rubber, plastics, textile and metal industries.
AccuRay systems combined with ABB’s drive systems business to form today’s global product line for pulp and paper and further consolidated its position in the industry with the introduction of the 1190 QCS solution in 1990.
This is the first time QCS has been integrated with a distributed control system (DCS).
Prior to this, all QCS Systems relied on minicomputers.
The DCS at that time was the ABB Master, which eventually evolved into the automated ABB Power TM System 800xA.

AccuRay designed, manufactured and marketed computer-based automation and management information systems for manufacturing processes to save raw materials and energy, increase productivity, lower costs and improve product quality. AccuRay automation systems controlled manufacturing processes in the pulp and paper, rubber, plastics, textile and metals industries.

AccuRay systems measured the basic properties of materials, such as weight, moisture, thickness, width, opacity and component content. The technologies for performing such measurements employed a variety of physical and electronic principles that included nuclear, X-ray, infrared, radio frequency, optical, pneumatic and electromagnetic techniques. AccuRay technology and expertise has helped ABB maintain its status as the leading provider of measurement and control technologies for the Pulp and Paper industries.
