MOTOROLA MVME172-413 VME bus high-performance single-board computer module
Hardware architecture
Processor: Usually, MOTOROLA’s PowerPC series processors are adopted, which have powerful computing capabilities and can meet the demands of complex industrial control and real-time data processing. For example, the PowerPC 750 series processors might be adopted, which have a relatively high main frequency and can execute various instructions and tasks quickly.
Memory: Equipped with high-speed memory of a certain capacity, generally including static random access memory (SRAM) and dynamic random access memory (DRAM). SRAM is used to store key code and data and has the characteristic of fast access. DRAM provides a larger storage capacity for running operating systems, applications and processing large amounts of data. The common configuration might be tens of megabytes of SRAM and hundreds of megabytes of DRAM.
Storage: Supports multiple storage methods, such as Flash Memory, hard disk drive (HDD), or solid-state drive (SSD). Flash memory is used to store important information such as system startup codes and configuration files, and it has the feature of not losing data when power is off. HDD or SSD can be used to store a large amount of historical data, log files and application backups, etc.
Interface type
VME bus Interface: As a module of the VME bus architecture, MVME172-413 conducts high-speed data transmission and communication with other modules via the VME bus. The VME bus features high speed and reliability. It can support multiple modules to work collaboratively on the same bus, enabling the expansion and integration of the system.
Serial port: Multiple serial communication interfaces are provided, such as RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces. The RS-232 interface is often used to connect debugging equipment, terminal devices or other instruments and meters that support the RS-232 protocol. The RS-485 interface is suitable for long-distance data transmission and multi-device communication in industrial sites. It can achieve half-duplex communication among multiple devices and is widely used in the connection of devices such as sensors and actuators in industrial automation control systems.
Ethernet interface: Equipped with an Ethernet interface, it supports standard Ethernet communication protocols, such as TCP/IP protocol. Through the Ethernet interface, the MVME172-413 can be connected to other network devices such as switches, routers, and upper computers to achieve remote monitoring, data transmission, and system integration. It can be used to connect industrial control systems to enterprise networks to achieve remote management and analysis of production data.
Other interfaces: May also include USB interfaces, CAN bus interfaces, etc. The USB interface can be used to connect external storage devices, human-computer interaction devices (such as mice and keyboards), or other USB devices. The CAN bus interface is mainly used for real-time control and communication in industrial sites, and is often used to connect automotive electronic devices, industrial automation equipment, etc. It features high reliability and real-time performance.
