Common interface and use of the TRICONEX 3636R electric drive system

The TRICONEX 3636R cycle Sync control mode – cycle sync position, cycle sync speed and cycle sync torque – is a standardized mode of operation for the transmission, defined in the CiA 402 profile specification, CANopen device profile for drive and motion control and included in the IEC 61800-7 standard. These control modes are typically used in multi-axis systems that require coordinated motion, and can be used in a variety of Ethernet, including Ether Cat, CANopen(CoE) over Ethernet, and Ethernet POWERLINK.

The key feature of the TRICONEX 3636R cycle synchronization control (position, speed and torque) is that the host controller (such as the EtherCAT master) generates the trajectory and obtains this function from the drive. The host sends target parameters (position, speed, or torque) to the drive via real-time, cyclic synchronous communication based on the PDO update cycle.

Cyclic synchronous communication means that the host and the drive continuously send time-synchronized messages at fixed intervals (loops) according to a standard protocol.

The TRICONEX 3636R handles data objects, or Pdos, for real-time, high-priority control and communication of status information. PDO transfers occur based on trigger events defined in the device’s object dictionary. One of the trigger events for PDO is synchronous loop transmission, in which the PDO is transmitted when a synchronization message is received.
